About The Embassy
The Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain established diplomatic relations in the early 1980’s. At that time, the Philippine Ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the State of Bahrain.
On 14 April 1992, due to the growing number of overseas Filipino workers, the Embassy of the Philippines in Bahrain was formally established with H.E. Ambassador Leonides T. Caday as the first resident Ambassador. Ambassador Caday, with about 10 officers and staff from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Manila, successfully opened the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain.
On 13 July 1994, H.E. Ambassador Akmad A. Sakkam assumed post. Five years later, or on 27 May 1999, H.E. Ambassador Rodolfo I. Dumapias arrived and presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness The Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
