Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Philippines and Bahrain maintained strong and friendly relations that are deeply rooted in their shared objectives of peace and prosperity.
Exchanges of official visits of high-level officials, including the heads of states, of both countries have contributed to strengthening political, economic and trade ties.
In recent years, trade in goods and services between the Philippines and Bahrain have been steadily increasing. Bahrain is among the top 100 destinations of the Philippines’ consumer manufactures, food, and industrial manufactures. The Philippines, meanwhile, source its aluminum and other base metal ores and concentrates requirements from Bahrain.
The Philippines is aiming to increase trade with Bahrain with the creation of the Philippines-Bahrain Business Council. Based in Manama, and under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy, the business council is intensifying efforts to bring in more fresh Philippine tropical fruits, e.g. mangoes - and seafood into the Kingdom.
In 2007, Bahrain and the Philippines entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on Health Services Cooperation that would help build capacities of both countries in the medical and allied fields. |
